Mariluz Lazcano
Mariluz Lazcano was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After graduating with honors from high school in 1996, she attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000. She majored in psychology and was named to the Dean's List throughout her four years at LSU.
In 2000, Ms. Lazcano returned to Puerto Rico and enrolled in the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, School of Law, where she received an honor scholarship for her outstanding academic achievements. While in Law School Ms. Lazcano became a member of OMED (organización de mujeres estudiantes de derecho), an organization dedicated to resolving issues facing female law professionals. She also became a member of the Federal Bar Association and Phi Alpha Delta. During her second summer as a law student, Ms. Lazcano worked at McConnell Valdes as a summer associate.
In 2003 Ms. Lazcano obtained her Juris Doctor degree graduating with honors Suma Cum Laude from Universidad Interamericana. Having one of the best overall GPA's in her class, her academic excellence was further recognized through the receipt of the award for the best GPA in public law related courses.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Lazcano accepted a position as a law clerk for the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. Dealing with the most important controversies on the island, she had the opportunity to fully develop her analytical and writing skills. Her time clerking for Judge Efraín Rivera enabled her to gain a new perspective on the judicial system.
In March 2005, Ms. Lazcano accepted an associate position at Indiano & Williams, P.S.C. where she has been able to apply the valuable skills and knowledge acquired at the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
